Abstract: The purpose of the study was assess patients an an urban care clinic in patients with chronic low back pain for depression using the Beck BDI-PC scale. The researchers concluded that nurse practitioners should screen and treat patients with chronic pain for depression. The researchers recommend employing a psychiatric nurse practitioner in clinics that serve patients with chronic back pain.
